The Big Break!

There are moments in time, experiences or opportunities that shape and change us. They can be expected, where you have made a choice or they can be unexpected, big or small. These are our turning points. The catalysts for change. I have had many turning points in my life that have influenced a change in how I choose to live my life or what to do next. All of my business’ have been created through turning points, so it’s only fitting that upon the launch of this brand I went through another turning point in my life.

The big break.

You know the saying “that if you push too hard, then something has to give”. This is what happened.

Over the few months leading, Professionally, I had been achieving some of the biggest months in my business, working hard and creating new ideas to send us into the new financial year. The personal brand was on its second attempt of launching (didn’t launch in April due to the pandemic and managing the other business) and all set up ready to go. However, personally was a different story. I was overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted by trying to navigate some family and personal relationships. All this was happening at once, building up until we hit the day before a planned and well earned two week break.

The second of July 2020, the last day of clients for the term and then a holiday. I started my morning with a coffee, like no other. However this morning was different. There was a different feeling around it. In my gut, I felt off, like something wasn’t right. But I went about the beginning of my day as usual, as it was the last day and the positive affirmations of you can do it were there getting me through.

As I was about to start my day, it happened. I was bending down to get something and by accident my head was in a position that led it to being compressed between two metal surfaces, breaking my Left TMJ and splitting my chin in half.

I was ok, I was alert, conscious and no other damage occurred, thank goodness. Externally, I looked like everything was fine, a couple of scratches and bruises, but nothing physically apparent. Internally, well my chin was split in half from my bottom teeth all the way down.

That afternoon, I underwent surgery and had 2 plates and 8 screws putting my chin back together. 4 days later, I had an additional 2 screws placed in my Jaw on right side to stabilise and help heal my left TMJ break. I was home within a day and welcomed a puree diet for the following 6 weeks.

Two weeks post op!

So for now, I sit in recovery following recommendations, looking for answers to my many questions on my health to build my health care team around me and re-evaluating what is important to me. A life changing accident that has shifted everything for the better. I am now focusing on time to slow down, recover, reconnect with who I am, rest and being surrounded by love and support from my family, friends and work colleagues.

This is just the start.
