End of Year Wishes

I don’t know about you guys, but the last few months have been a lot harder than I ever thought possible.

We’ve spent so much time dealing with lockdowns in NSW, months on end constantly living in a state of unknown, with consistent change.

Thankfully in the last few weeks we have finally seen positive change, and an end in sight to this pandemic… At least for the foreseeable future.A sense of normality has finally returned but still, but it has been hard to not feel separated from individuals with restrictions in place. Our communities have been challenged but it has been pleasing to see the determination and resilience both myself, family and friends have all exhibited along the way.

We are fatigued, exhausted, there is nothing left in the tank, and well into a month that is meant to bring so much joy and excitement at the end of the year which seemingly has been overridden by the continuous change.Working within schools with my business, it’s been a chaotic period for staff, kids and families… adapting to the new normal, going back to school and then somehow winding down for the year all at the same time. We’ve dealt with day closures and positive cases in schools, resulting in fear and hesitation.

So how do we manage the consistent inconsistencies, the school closures with little to no notice, and the uncertainty we feel about planning too far ahead and going on holidays with our loved ones as the year comes to an end?

First of all, know that you aren’t alone. Everyone is fearful, burnt out and questioning what to do with themselves as they get ready for the end of year break. I think the best thing you can choose to do and plan for right now is rest. Take time for yourself and be kind to yourself. Share kind words with others and know that you did everything you could possibly do in your power to get you to where you are today! It may not be exactly where you expected (gosh it is definitely not the same for me), but it is still somewhere further along your journey than where you were at the start of the year.

Share and enjoy the presence of your loved ones. Taking that step back and truly appreciating the quality time you share with your immediate family, extended family and close friends is invaluable and time will never give you these opportunities back again.

Enjoy the Christmas break and be mindful and intentional with your time. Do small things that bring you joy. Listen to your body in the here and now and show up for you!

Also, spend some time in nature! This is something that I have been doing to help with fatigue and stress as the year comes to a close. It's a natural reset that allows for a lot of rejuvenation with all the best healing qualities.

As we’re doing this, we are setting ourselves up for a great start to 2022. One full of energy, love, joy and peace within ourselves. Thank you for coming along on my journey with me in 2021.

May you have the most wonderful break and welcome to a year of new beginnings, whatever you may choose those to be!
