Cheers to being in Business!

January 2021 marks my 3rd year in business.

This month also marks the beginning of a new era in my business as well! But before we can move forward, we need to look back, reflect, appreciate, celebrate and be thankful for every moment that got us here.

Within my OT business, at the end of last year without even realising, I reached an unfathomable goal that never in my wildest dreams did I believe i’d reach in 3 years.

It got me reflecting on the patterns, flow of the business itself and the core focus that I have each year. Every individual’s core motivation and drive in business is different. I thought i’d share my journey so far throughout the three years, as an insight to my motivations, reasoning and development over time.

The lessons I’ve learnt…
Year 1 - THE Start Up phase:

I become a sole trader, learn’t the different facets of running a business, started to apply it, worked some (not all) systems out, and learn’t to talk to people who can help. In this phase it’s important to realise your true goals and acuity for growth; transition to company within 6 months including name and brand changes, reset and refine set up processes all whilst working with clients full time.

Year 2 - Relationship/Connection:

My second year of business involved sharing and connecting with like minded people in the local communities and building my team. I spent a lot of time developing processes for a small team, consistently trouble shooting, but also remaining efficient, consistent and developing trust / respect between me and my employees. Just like in life, relationships in business and open communication are vital to success. Don’t overlook the importance of communicating your needs to your employees, and also listen to theirs as the business continues to grow.

Year 3 - Automation for Growth:

My third year in business was all about fine tuning systems to establish automation, support and allowing for growth within the team to expand with the same quality. The aim has been to allow me to gain more time to grow the business rather than treating clients face to face myself.

This brings us to now.

2021 is all about Refinement & Rhythm; working towards refinement of all aspects of the business in order to ensure the quality remains the same, for expansion, development and adapt to whatever this year brings.

While all this has happened for my OT business, it has also then allowed for the cultivation of this business and my personal brand over the last 2 years. A way to express my true essence and foster it in a way that supports us all. A way to refine all my knowledge as an OT, my personal life experiences and share with you how I have come from a person who was withdrawn, shut down and of limited emotional capacity, to now, someone who is self-aware, understands my emotions, capabilities and is successfully navigating through this world.

This brand came about after I began thinking about how I could support and connect with more people than just those who i see on a day to day basis. I began noticing the same conversations coming about over time and was a seeking a way to transform this information for everyone to utilise.

So, Essence of Expression was born. It is my way of sharing my journey, enlightening you on how to connect with yourself, your children or family, people in the community and the world. When this happens, the transformation, your energy and light shifts.

Watch this space over the next 12 months, as I have more knowledge to share with you, providing different ways for you to access and to support you in this ever changing world.
